Internships provide students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience in their chosen field while still in school. They typically involve working for a company or organization for a set period of time, usually a semester or a summer, and can be either paid or unpaid. During my internship at Nationwide Insurance I had the opportunity to apply machine learning algorithms in an industry setting. I worked on developing unsupervised machine learning models to detect anomalous ledger entries in financial data. I found that I enjoy applying advanced statistical methods in applied settings. Many of the data analysis and cleaning skills that I utilized during my internship I was able to learn and master during my coursework at ASU!
